Affordability

The creation of affordable housing development projects is crucial for Kelowna’s communities and economy. Short term stabilization programs and youth care services are effective at helping families who oftentimes have to spend 30% of their income on housing. We want to make Kelowna more affordable so residents can live and work with less burden.

Economy

Creating employment opportunities will fuel the local economy. Renewable energy initiatives and an emphasis on clean tech industries can help create jobs and support the Okanagan’s tourism industry which already generates $1.4 billion in economic activity annually. Creating jobs in innovative and sustainable fields will aid in future proofing Kelowna’s economy.

Transportation

We want to reduce congestion on roadways and provide people of all means better access to their community. Buses, Bikes, and walking paths serve as necessary ways for people to get around town and to access their work, shops, and community spaces while also reducing the number of trips by car. On our streets, roundabouts can also help alleviate congestion and prevent crashes at intersections.

Okanagan Valley Rail

A tram-train is a type of light rail vehicle that runs like a streetcar in cities like a train between cities. We believe that an Okanagan Valley Electric passenger rail service would massively benefit sustainable tourism and transportation in Kelowna’s economy. Residents and tourists could enjoy an easily accessible, environmentally friendly transportation system

SMARTer Growth

Creating a sustainable future with the help of research data makes people’s lives better today, without compromising the lives of future generations. By encouraging sustainable development and infrastructure, we can create lasting communities in the Okanagan and be prepared to face environmental challenges.

COMpass

Provide free bus passes to community members from local revenue streams such as dowtown parking. This would help many residents gain access to affordable transportation while also contributing to net neutrality efforts by encouraging travel by bus rather than by car.
